1 month in APR for free!

This year we celebrate our 10th anniversary and we want to celebrate it with all of you.

We are inviting artists from all over the world to send us a printmaking project to be developed in one month in our studio.

The winner will be awarded with 1 month residency in Art Print Residence for free!

Residency Award Program details

This year we have two things to celebrate since not only is our 10th Anniversary as “Art Print Residence”, but also it has been 30 years since we founded our printmaking studio.

The Award Program is open to International artists. The winner will spend 1 month living in the residency and creating prints in our fully equipped printmaking studio located in Arenys de Munt, near Barcelona (Catalonia).

Artists are invited to stay for 1 month, primarily using our printmaking facilities, to create their artworks.

What’s included

  • Free accommodation in a private room in the residency during 4 weeks.
  • Free studio access during 4 weeks from Monday to Friday 9 am until 5 pm.
  • Everything needed for the printmaking process except plates and paper, because it depends on the artist project, but it can be purchased in the studio. You can find what’s included in the studio at https://artprintresidence.com/homerates-and-supplies/

What’s required

  • Previous knowledge in the printmaking techniques to achieve your goals.
  • In case you need technical assistance, it can be provided for 20€/hour (specify it on your proposal).

What’s not included

  • Meals and drinks
  • Health insurance
  • Travels to and from the residency
  • Plates and papers to develop the project, because it depends on each artist proposal.

Selection

The selection will be done by the Art Print Residence Team and the Juror’s members, according to the basis of this open call.
The members of the Jury are:

Carrie Scanga, from USA. Professor of Art Bowdoin College in Maine, USA.

Hen Coleman, from UK. Hen is a masters printmaking graduate of London’s Royal College of Art and worked as a print tutor for 10 years at the Royal Academy Schools. 

Lorna Crane, from Australia.Visual artist and printmaker.Bachelor of Creative Arts (Distinction). University of Wollongong.

Silvia Papucci, from Italy. Incisore, responsabile Scuola di Grafica d’Arte, vice direttore Accademica di Belle Arti di Carrara

The committee will make a pre-selection of 10 artists over all the proposals received.

APR will publish the semi-finalist list on social media on June 15, 2022.

The name of the winner will be announced on June 21, 2022.

The jury’s decision will be final

The winner will be awarded with 1 month residency in APR for free, including accommodation and studio access. The residency has to be done in 2022, from October 1st to December 31th.

The 9 finalists will be awarded with a 10% discount of the total residency cost (accommodation and studio fees) for an artist residency during 2022, from July to December.

Which considerations will be taken into account to make the selection:

  • Projects that can be developed in our studio according to our facilities. You can check out our website to see our installations and which printmaking techniques can be practiced in our studio. https://artprintresidence.com/homeworkshop/
  • Proposals that can be developed in one month. It would be helpful if you can add a calendar on your proposal specifying times or chronology. You can also add your possible dates.
  • Printmaking projects on a large scale will be considered.
  • The quality of the artist’s previous works in the printmaking field.

Important dates:

Open Call:

From February 1st until April 30th 2022.

Proposals received after the deadline won’t be taken into account.

Semi-finalists announcement:

15th June 2022

Winner announcement:

21th June 2022

Residency period for the winner:

Between 1st October to 31 December 2022

Residency period for the finalist artists:

Between 1st July to 31 December 2022, according to our availability.
