Simon Trewin artist resident, from England. May 2025. I arrived at Art Print Residence in Barcelona feeling jittery and unsure, hoping to focus on letterpress printing. By the time I left, I felt like I’d stretched every creative muscle I had—supported at every step by the dream team of Jordi and Ariadna. They patiently indulged my endless questions and shared techniques to help me turn my ideas into something real and meaningful.
The studio itself is a playground for any printmaker: the sheer range of inks and papers took my ideas to a completely new level. In my second week, I even tackled one of the giant presses—my biggest piece ever, with 37 different photopolymer plates. It was pure magic to see that first test print emerge, to hold something so massive and know that I’d made it.
It’s not just the work, though—it’s the whole place. It’s the ease of walking up two flights of stairs at night to crash in the cozy residence above. It’s sharing a meal or a glass of wine with fellow artists from all over, swapping stories about our projects and plotting out where to explore during the weekend. And yes, it’s the two tortoises (Mr Red Dot and Mr Two Red Dots), the occasional cat cameo, and that unstoppable robot vacuum that always made me smile.
I felt a real ache leaving it all behind—new friends, new ways of working, and that whole atmosphere of creativity and gentle encouragement. Art Print Residence isn’t just a place to make prints—it’s a place to push yourself, to feel seen and supported, and to remember why you do this work in the first place.

Spent 12 days at Art Print Residence and this was one of the best investments I ever made. Learned so much of the photogravure process. The studio is set-up is very professional and residents’ housing is exceptional. Our expert hosts Jordi and Claudia were always at hand to instruct and advise. And special thanks to my tutor Ariadna! I would definitely go again if I find the time!

The Mokuhanga workshop by great artist Katsutoshi Yuasa, was fantastic. The beauty of Japanese print methods and contemporary photography techniques, is a very interesting experience.

The variety of Japanese papers, the exceptional quality of the paints, and the diverse range of tools in your workshop made for an inspiring and creative environment. I particularly appreciated the freedom to experiment with different formats and the trust you placed in me.
Ariadna, I’m especially grateful for your help with the photopolymer plates—it was invaluable.

I did white groung etching on a cooper plate with Jordi ,
Mokulito course with Ariadna and photogravure with Silvi Glattaeur. They are the best teachers I had ,very professionnal, patient and welcoming, and I had so many creative wonderful time in this place with so many inkcolors and big press, fulled with plants in the poetic loggia and garden.
The accomodation in an a shared appartement with many artists coming from all the world on the second floor is very convenient to work with efficiency.
Many thanks to Jordi, Claudia, Ariadna a lovely creative family I ‘m happy to have met. Don’t hesitate to discover this place near Barcelone.

Michael Trupiano, an artist resident from the United States; residency in October 2024. Art Print Residence is an incredible printmaking studio with all the resources to pursue one’s art. My week long residency with Silvi Glattauer teaching photopolymer based etching was very rewarding and gave me too many (😉) ideas to pursue in my own studio. The prints I made were beyond my expectations. Claudia, Jordi, and especially Ariadna we’re amazing to work with: completely sharing and encouraging. I am sure I will return to APR and encourage anyone interested in printmaking to do so.

The print shop and facilities are top quality. But most of all Jordi, Ariadna and Claudia are the best! They are technical experts in all areas along with being very warm and caring people. ArtPrintResidence APR is a very beautiful space 30min by foot from the sea with a beautiful view. The rooms are nice and clean. During the week one can work in a big, very well equipped printing atelier and in the evening go to the beach and eat something in a restaurant. The family who organizes APR is very welcoming and helpful. Not only do they contribute to the friendly, familiar and positive atmosphere, they also support the artists in their creative process by cheering, being very responsive when there is a question or a doubt and their great insight into the various printmaking techniques. It is a great environment for those who wish to work in a kind, positive environment with highly skilled people.

Art Print residence is a paradise for printmakers. The facilities and the working environment are all designed to provide the best working conditions. The tuition and the expertise of all the professionals guiding you is unparalleled and make this a perfect experience for any artist seeking to deepen their knowledge and skills. I had a great time exploring my own practice with all the support I needed and I enjoyed meeting talented printers and forging new friendships with people from all over the world. I had a very productive time and I came back with a lot of work done for my upcoming exhibitions and more to edition in the next few months ! I can’t wait to go back;

I spent a month at Art Print Residence working with different intaglio techniques large scale. It’s a playground full of options all very professionally taken care of. Jordi, Ariadna and Claudia makes you feel very much at home and are very helpful, accommodating, and competent. I felt that any issues or ideas were welcome and taken care of making the space very inspiring. The studio is really well equipped and very beautiful. Great working environment in the studio (we were 4 there). I absolutely loved the way everything was efficiently arranged.
Good quality colors and interesting selection of fine paper. Excellent teaching – and assistance if you need that.
The apartment above is convenient, very nice, with different options (e.g., 1, 2, or 3 in a room together).
The hosts are wonderful; loving and friendly.

The studio space is equipped with everything you could possibly need for printmaking and Ariadna, Jordi, and Claudia were always there to help and answer any questions. The location of the residency was incredible and so inspiring – the perfect getaway for any creative looking for a change of scene. I could not recommend this residency enough and I definitely hope to return one day!
