Alpha Greeff and Ryno Greeff

Alpha Greeff & Ryno Greeff — South Africa
Artists in Residence · June 2026

In June 2026, Alpha Greeff and Ryno Greeff, artists from South Africa, completed an artist residency at Art Print Residence, focused on the exploration of contemporary photopolymer printmaking.

During their stay, Alpha and Ryno participated in a Direct-to-Plate Photopolymer Course, led by Ariadna Abadal.

Throughout the course, they explored the complete direct-to-plate photopolymer process, from preparing the images and exposing the plates to developing, inking and printing. This technique offers artists the possibility of translating photographic and digitally created imagery directly onto photopolymer plates while maintaining a wide range of tonal values, textures and fine details.

Under the guidance of Ariadna Abadal, Alpha and Ryno experimented with the technical and creative possibilities of the process, adapting photopolymer printmaking to their individual artistic approaches.

Their residency at Art Print Residence provided an intensive period of learning, experimentation and shared studio practice, allowing them to deepen their knowledge of direct-to-plate photopolymer and explore new possibilities for incorporating the technique into their own artistic work.
