In March 2026, Ralph Overill, an artist from the United Kingdom, completed an artist residency at Art Print Residence, supported by a scholarship from the Glasgow School of Art.

During his stay, Ralph participated in an Etching Refresher Workshop, revisiting and strengthening his knowledge of traditional intaglio processes. The workshop provided an opportunity to refine different stages of etching, from plate preparation and image development to inking and printing.

He also took part in an Advanced Photopolymer Workshop, exploring the possibilities of photopolymer plates and contemporary photographic printmaking. Through this process, he was able to investigate the relationship between photographic imagery, plate-making and intaglio printing.

His residency at Art Print Residence allowed Ralph to combine traditional etching with advanced photopolymer processes, expanding his technical knowledge and exploring new possibilities for the development of his artistic practice.

We are pleased to have collaborated with the Glasgow School of Art in supporting this period of research, experimentation and professional development.

Brazilian Artists’ Group — March 2026

Photoetching & Artist’s Book Workshop

In March 2026, Art Print Residence hosted a group of artists from Brazil for a residency dedicated to the Photoetching & Artist’s Book Workshop, led by Ariadna Abadal.

The group was organized and coordinated by Brazilian artist Ivani Ranieri, who also participated in the workshop alongside the other artists.

During their stay, the artists explored the creative possibilities of photoetching, learning how photographic images can be transferred and developed through printmaking processes. The workshop combined technical experimentation with individual artistic research, allowing each participant to develop images according to their own visual language.

The residency also focused on the creation of the artist’s book, exploring how original prints, images, sequences and different book structures can come together to create a unique artistic object.

The residency provided an opportunity to bring together photography, printmaking and book arts, while encouraging an exchange of ideas, techniques and experiences among the participating artists.

This intensive period at Art Print Residence offered the group a professional environment for learning, experimentation and creative exchange, combining the individual artistic practices of the participants with a shared exploration of photoetching and the artist’s book.

Charlotte Ambrose, an artist from the United Kingdom, joined Art Print Residence for an artist residency in February 2026.

During her stay, Charlotte took part in an Etching and Aquatint course led by Jordi Rosés, with the supervision and technical guidance of Ariadna Abadal. She shared this intensive printmaking experience with fellow artists Pernille Koch Larsen, Mahmood Abdulsaheb Ahmed Hasan and Saidhbh de Búrca.

Throughout the course, Charlotte explored the fundamental processes of traditional intaglio printmaking, working with etching and aquatint to develop line, tonal values, textures and different approaches to image-making on the plate. The course combined technical experimentation with individual guidance, allowing each artist to adapt the processes to their own visual language and artistic practice.

Alongside her work in traditional etching, Charlotte also explored photographic printmaking using photopolymer plates, with the advice and technical guidance of Ariadna Abadal. This process allowed her to translate photographic imagery into intaglio prints and to experiment with the relationship between photography and contemporary printmaking.

Her residency at Art Print Residence offered Charlotte the opportunity to combine traditional etching techniques with photopolymer processes, expanding her knowledge of printmaking while developing new possibilities for her artistic work.

It was a pleasure to welcome Charlotte to Art Print Residence and to accompany her throughout this period of experimentation, learning and creative development.

Kaitlyn Antoniadis, an artist from the United States, joined Art Print Residence for an artist residency in January 2026.

During her stay, Kaitlyn took part in the Direct-to-Plate Photopolymer course, led by Ariadna Abadal.

Throughout the course, she explored the creative and technical possibilities of photopolymer printmaking, learning how to prepare images for direct transfer onto photopolymer plates, expose and process the plates, and prepare them for intaglio printing.

Working in the professional printmaking studio at Art Print Residence, Kaitlyn was able to experiment with different images, tonal values and printing approaches while developing a deeper understanding of the entire photopolymer process.

The residency provided her with dedicated time and technical support to combine photographic and digital imagery with traditional printmaking methods. Through proofing and experimentation, she was able to refine her plates and explore the distinctive qualities that photopolymer brings to contemporary intaglio printmaking.

Her time at Art Print Residence offered an opportunity to expand her printmaking practice, acquire new technical skills and develop her personal artistic work in a creative and professionally equipped studio environment.

Welcome to Art Print Residence!

We are delighted to welcome Nina Vigilante from the United States to Art Print Residence for her residency this July 2026.

Nina joins us from Denison University (Ohio), where she is developing her artistic practice. During her stay, she will work as a studio assistant, gaining hands-on experience in the daily life of a professional printmaking workshop while learning the traditional techniques of copper etching (intaglio) under the guidance of Ariadna Abadal.

This residency offers a unique opportunity to combine practical studio experience with technical training, artistic research, and creative exchange within our international printmaking community.

We are excited to accompany Nina on this new chapter of her printmaking journey and look forward to sharing her progress over the coming weeks.

Suejin Ko and Yael Carola

A warm welcome to artists Suejin Ko and Yael Carola from the United States and Germany, who join us at Art Print Residence for a new residency this July 2026.

Over the coming weeks, they will immerse themselves in the timeless language of hard-ground etching and aquatint, discovering how copper, acid, ink, and paper come together to create expressive and deeply personal prints.

Led by Jordi Rosés, and with the guidance of Ariadna Abadal, this residency is dedicated to exploration, technical mastery, and artistic dialogue. Through each stage of the process—from preparing the copper plates and biting the images to inking and printing—they will gradually transform their ideas into finished works.

We look forward to sharing their creative journey, celebrating each new discovery, and following the evolution of their prints throughout their time at Art Print Residence.
