Japanese Papermaking & Mokuhanga Journey 2026 / 1

Starting from an idea by Art Print Residence, we brought together two worlds that have been deeply interconnected since ancient times: handmade paper and traditional Japanese mokuhanga woodblock printing.

We are excited to welcome our first group of printmaking artists to Japan, with participants coming from France, the UK, Chile, Austria, and the US.

Together, they will explore and learn ancestral Japanese techniques connected to the very origins of printmaking, through an immersive experience centered on craftsmanship, materials, and tradition.
