Bonnie Marsh — Hawaii, USA
Artist in Residence · June 2026
In June 2026, Bonnie Marsh, an artist from Hawaii, USA, completed an artist residency at Art Print Residence, focusing on the exploration of colour through different printmaking processes.
During her stay, Bonnie participated in an Intaglio Color Printing Course and a Reduction Woodcut Course, both led by Ariadna Abadal.
Through intaglio color printing, Bonnie explored different approaches to working with colour on intaglio plates, experimenting with inks, transparency, layering and the relationships between different colours within the printed image.
In the Reduction Woodcut Course, she worked with the progressive carving and printing of a single woodblock to build an image through successive layers of colour. This process requires careful planning, as the block is gradually carved away between each stage of printing.
Working across these two different techniques allowed Bonnie to investigate colour from contrasting perspectives — combining the qualities of intaglio printing with the layered and graphic possibilities of reduction woodcut.
Under the guidance of Ariadna Abadal, her residency at Art Print Residence became an intensive period of technical experimentation and artistic development, expanding the possibilities of colour within her printmaking practice.
