Overview
Art Print Residence is thrilled to partner with renowned Japanese artist Katsutoshi Yuasa to offer a unique, week-long creative journey through Japan. This immersive experience will uncover the traditional techniques of Mokuhanga (Japanese water-based woodcut) and handmade washi paper, through studio visits, workshops, and cultural exploration.

Tour Highlights
Handmade Paper Workshop in Fukushima
Participants will visit a traditional papermaking studio in the Fukushima region. Over three days, they will engage in a hands-on workshop, learning centuries-old Japanese washi techniques.
International Art Village
Workshops are held at the International Art Village Center, a converted school transformed into a vibrant creative hub with gallery spaces, studios, and a community café.
Mokuhanga Workshop with Katsutoshi Yuasa
Following the papermaking experience, participants will dive into Mokuhanga, carving and printing their own woodblocks using the handmade washi paper created during the papermill workshop.
Cultural Visits
We’ll explore an art museum showcasing Mokuhanga prints by the renowned artist Kiyoshi Saito. Our journey will also take us to local spiritual sites, including temples and a shrine, each steeped in history, mysticism, and natural beauty. Finally, we’ll visit a historic samurai residence, offering a glimpse into Japan’s rich cultural heritage.
Lake Panoramic Viewpoints
We’ll visit serene lakes, pausing at key viewpoints to capture the region’s breathtaking natural beauty of the region.

We offer an all-inclusive package that includes:
