Claire Hankey, an artist from the United Kingdom, joined Art Print Residence for an artist residency in January 2026, dedicating her stay to exploring different approaches to monoprinting and photographic printmaking.
During her residency, Claire took part in the Monoprint and Water-Based Monoprint course, led by Jordi Rosés. Through this process, she experimented with the spontaneous and painterly possibilities of monoprinting, working with colour, layering, transparency and different methods of transferring images onto paper.
An important part of her project was the creation of a series of large-format monoprints, allowing her to explore composition, gesture and the relationship between colour and surface on a larger scale.
Claire also completed a Photopolymer Photo-Etching course, led by Ariadna Abadal, where she learned how photographic imagery can be transferred onto photopolymer plates and developed through intaglio printing techniques.
Her residency at Art Print Residence brought together the immediacy and experimental character of monoprinting with the precision and photographic possibilities of photopolymer printmaking, giving her the opportunity to explore different processes and expand her artistic practice in the professional environment of the studio.
