Woodcut is a non toxic printing process. We can show you how to work into various surfaces by using different kinds of tools. You can also work on large scale!

Woodcut (basic)

Also called Xilography

A design is made on a piece of wood and carved with gouges along the grain.

Carving on multiple blocks and working on large size.

The line is incised into the woodblock.

Reduction woodcut

Carving process on wood or linoleum where the design is produced from one single block.

Color-reduction woodcut offers a way to get multiple colours in a print using only one block. Each color is carved away and then printed.

It is a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum or pvc is used as a matrix.

Traditional Japanese Water Based Woodcut 

This course is an introduction to the traditional Japanese woodcut process.

Learn the basics of the Japanese woodcut and prepare your own water based inks from earth pigments extracted from the mountains of Roussillon. 

You can work on multilayers using the traditional Japanese registration system.
