In March 2026, Valerie Zeman, an artist from the United States, completed an artist residency at Art Print Residence, focused on expanding and refining her knowledge of intaglio printmaking.
During her stay, Valerie participated in several specialized courses led by Ariadna Abadal and Jordi Rosés, exploring different traditional and contemporary approaches to printmaking.
Her program included an Intaglio Refresher Workshop, designed to revisit and strengthen essential intaglio techniques and printing processes. She also took part in a Drypoint Course, experimenting with the direct and expressive qualities of drawing onto the plate.
Valerie continued her research through a Multilayer Printing Course, exploring the possibilities of combining different plates, colours and layers to create more complex printed images.
She also participated in a Chine Collé Course, learning how delicate and lightweight papers can be incorporated into intaglio printing, adding new possibilities for colour, texture and composition.
Throughout her residency, Valerie was guided by Ariadna Abadal and Jordi Rosés, combining technical learning with experimentation and the development of her own artistic practice.
Her time at Art Print Residence offered an intensive opportunity to explore different aspects of intaglio while discovering new ways of combining plates, papers, colours and printing techniques.
